Stabilizing the staffing of an Urgent Care practice is key to laying the foundation of a healthy clinic upon which we can innovate and iterate. But hiring providers today has unique challenges, especially as the workforce has changed its priorities and expectations in a post-pandemic era. In this talk, we will cover five slightly controversial, maybe even spicy, Hot Takes on Hiring after I reviewed more than 150 resumes, conducted 63 interviews and hired 27 providers in a span of 4 months to stabilize a region of Urgent Care practices in the Northern California, the country’s most expensive, and difficult to recruit market.
Learning Objectives 1. Clinicians are best suited to be hiring managers. 2. Pay transparency is key, but convincing a candidate goes beyond compensation. 3. After the offer is signed, the hiring manager is most at risk. 4. Per Diem providers have a surprising ammount of utility to a practice in direct and indirect ways. 5. Existing leaders in an organization will respond to an influx of workers seeking leadership opportunities.
